I realized that media was for me after my first class of English Media at West Hill Secondary school taught by Mr. Taylor.  This was the same year that I did a co-op term at Maclean Hunter Cable TV, did the audio and was the voice of West Hill’s Track and Field, and set up the audio for a school play and a few assemblies.  This was also the year that I called in to make a request to AM640 The Hog hosted by Deanna Nason.  Deanna said I had a great voice, but she could not take anymore requests for that day. She gave me a ‘private’ phone number to call the following day to get my request in and to have me introduce the song. I was sold! Radio was for me.

I ventured off to FUNshawe College to learn more about radio. After completing the two year course I won a scholarship to a program called On-Air 94.  This program gave me the opportunity to be part of a team that ran 106.9 6XFM in London for a summer. That summer I also had my voice work critiqued by very talented Program Directors from a number of London and area radio stations.

Following college I landed a job at my hometown radio station doing odd jobs. These odd jobs also included voicing funeral announcements on the weekend on 560 CFOS.  I went on to be the voice of community events as a community events reporter, then weather specialist on the weekend, then weekend announcer, then afternoon announcer/ Music Director and fill-in morning show personality on Mix 106.

In 2006 a great opportunity came my way and I took it. I became the Program Director and announcer at 98 the Beach in Port Elgin.  In 2008 I was involved alongside Bayshore Broadcasting in the launching 104.9 the Beach in Goderich of which I was the Program Director of.

I am now the program director and afternoon announcer of CJOS-FM. 92.3 The Dock in Owen Sound. www.923thedock.com
